Here are 9 free printable Mother’s Day cards so that you can easily make and donate cards to charities in need.
Every mom needs at least a little bit of recognition. And sometimes a simple card can be just the thing to brighten a mother’s day.
There are groups of women who often don’t receive anything to celebrate them and the contributions they make to their child or childrens’ lives.
So I wanted to provide some free printable Mother’s Day cards that anyone can use to give to someone they know or donate to organizations that need them.
Where Should I Donate Handmade Mother’s Day Cards?
The gift of a handmade card is something that a person always appreciates.
If you are looking to donate to a local organization or group, why not contact a senior center in your area and donate to women who might not otherwise receive something?
If you are able to send cards out of state, though, please consider the Color Codes Foundation’s Mother’s Day Campaign.
Color Codes Foundation serves currently and formerly incarcerated women in the Texas area.
This year they have a goal of donating at least 1,000 cards to women in Houston-area facilities.

There are specific requirements for cards that are donated to these facilities, and they are:
- Cards should not have glitter, gems, or ANY adornment.
- Cards may not include pop-ups or pop-outs,
- The design and verbiage must be in good taste.
Since the requirements limit some typical handmade card options, I designed a variety of cards you could just print and personalize it with a positive message inside the card. It takes the guesswork out of what to make.
In terms of a positive mantra or affirmation to write on the inside of the card, you could include something like:
- You are awesome.
- You are loved.
- You are special.
- You are beautiful.
Please note: You should never include any detailed personal information anywhere on the card.

Supplies You Need For These Free Mother’s Day Cards
The supplies for these free printable cards are simple and straightforward so that you can make a bunch of them in one sitting.
To make these Mother’s Day cards you need some of the following:
- A printer – This should go without saying, but I like my supply lists to be specific.
- Printer paper – This is the easiest base material to use since you likely have it loaded in your printer already. The only challenge with printer paper is that it’s flimsier than the other options. In a pinch, it’s a great option but if you are able, it would be nice to use a thicker blank card or piece of card stock.
- Blank 4″ x 6″ cards – These blank cards are easy to place in the printer tray and make each card look and feel very professional. They also typically come with envelopes.
- Card stock – If you are going to print the cards to color them, 8.5″ x 11″ card stock will give you more surface area.
- Crayons – Crayons plus card stock are perfect for little hands. They are also a good approach if you’re using for printer paper since they won’t bleed through the paper.
- Colored markers – Colored markers are ideal for blank cards or card stock. They add a nice dimension and texture.

I tried to provide a variety of options and made sure to offer cards in English and in Spanish.
There are cards that are solely in black and white so that you can use your creativity to color them in and add your own personal flair.
I also have a bunch of full-color cards in case you just have time to print them and add a message on the inside before donating them to the organization of your choice.
All of the designs are offered in two sizes: 8.5″ x 11″ and 4″ x 6″.
