How To Become A Love Notes Fairy
If sending snail mail is one of your favorite things, then becoming a love notes fairy is perfect for you!
I’ve said it before and it continues to be true: Making and sending handmade cards is a popular activity because it is a creative community project that is also cost effective.
Organizations or volunteer groups often ask for handmade card donations for a specific audience or group to raise someone’s spirits and support them through a hardship.
Some of the organizations that have already been featured on Create To Donate are:

- Hearts That Give (general community for people needing inspirational support)

What Is A Love Notes Fairy?
So when I heard about Jennifer Belthoff’s love notes fairy community, I knew I had to share.
The initiative came out of Jennifer’s own experience of receiving individual notes of love and hope from her coworkers after her mom had passed.
She wanted to pass that feeling along to others so she started the love notes fairy community.
What Do I Do As A Love Notes Fairy?
To become a love notes fairy, you must first sign up here.
Then, after signing up, the process is extremely simple:
- Be on the lookout for an email listing the monthly nominees on the first Saturday of every month.
- Grab a pre-fab postcard or note card, or make your own and write a note to one or more of the nominees.
- Mail the note.
Crafty Inspiration
Not only does Jennifer include the nominees and their information in her newsletter, but she’ll also include some prompts to help you with what to write on the card.
Since the love note fairy requirement is simply sending a nice note, you can just grab a piece of paper and write a paragraph or two.
If you want to break out the craft supplies, though, Create To Donate has some handmade card inspiration for you.
You can decorate a card with an origami heart and a short (but sweet) message.
Or, could decorate a note card with a duct tape sticker heart and then write a fun message on the inside of the card.
If hearts aren’t your thing, why not decorate a card with flowers? They are the perfect way to brighten someone’s day.
How Else Can I Participate?
If you are inspired by the initiative but aren’t ready to be a monthly participant, consider nominating someone to receive love notes.
Just be prepared to provide the person’s mailing address and some background information on who the person is and why you think receiving love notes would make a difference.

For many people, bills, catalogs, and advertisements are the only physical mail they receive.
And even though people seem to live on their phones, receiving a card or note in the mail is often the highlight of many people’s days.
