I believe that we all have something to give and that it’s even more meaningful when we are allowed to express ourselves creatively.
Our aunties love to knit blankets or crochet booties. Our friends relax by fashioning things out of wood, fabric, or beads. Our kids love to put pen to paper and use up all the glue sticks and glitter just to finish their card design with a flourish.
So what better day than International Charity Day to launch a website intended to inspire and engage people to create handmade things and donate them to nonprofits?
All Kinds Of Crafting For A Cause
To get everyone excited and build a buzz around how people can start crafting for charity, I’m hosting a focused effort to get people making things they intend to donate from September 5th – October 31st, 2016.
I want a build a community of crafters from all walks of life and connect them with deserving nonprofits in need. My goal is to help you rediscover great nonprofits in your area, as well as introduce you to additional worthwhile charities that are sure to become new favorites.
In addition, this is not a solely knitting or sewing-focused site.
Because that would leave a WHOLE bunch of creative and giving people wondering how they too can help. There are also many people who feel they don’t have a “crafty” side, but I am a firm believer that everyone is capable of making something that another person will appreciate and enjoy.
So, this site will feature detailed projects for people at all levels using a variety of materials.
Building A Crafty Community
As much as I love crafting on my own, I cannot make the impact I hope to make alone. so I have recruited some amazing people who are also dedicated to giving back and have joined the Create To Donate campaign as ambassadors.
So, I have recruited some amazing people who are also dedicated to giving back and have joined the Create To Donate campaign as ambassadors. Each has something special to say and share and I’m excited to have you get to know them throughout the next two months.
If you too want to spread the word but don’t have the time to be a Create To Donate ambassador please consider joining the Create To Donate crew and commit to donating at least three items to a nonprofit of your choice before December 31st, 2016.
How Will You Start Crafting For A Cause?
As a result of this site, I hope everyone will see how they can be a “maker” of change. After all, it just takes one small action to have a ripple effect and I want to make waves.
