Let’s Make Baubles For Breast Cancer Awareness
For the month of October, I have created a Baubles for Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge for myself and I hope you’ll join me.
This craft for a cause campaign is reminiscent of my destash challenge back in 2016, that was inspired by the The 30-day Minimalism Game.

The whole purpose is to make donating handmade items to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition as straightforward and easy as possible.
All of these items will be small enough to add to their Friends Like Me® Care Packages and hopefully brighten someone’s day.
Plus, it’s time to put some more of my materials to great use.
What Qualifies As A “Bauble”?
Many people consider a”bauble” as a small, flashy piece of jewelry or small trinket (sometimes thought of as cheap as well).
And I guess these handmade baubles are just that – small, a little flashy, and very inexpensive compared to most people’s everyday jewelry.
But they pack a powerful message of hope and consideration for someone fighting breast cancer.

For the purpose of my Baubles for Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge, I am going to focus on making the following:
- Motivational mantra wrap bracelets
- Clay bead color block friendship bracelets
- Bracelet stacks made with beads and nylon cord
- Small silicone bead key chains or wristlet key chains (if you’re feeling fancy)
- Clay bead hoop earrings
Come the middle of October, I may think of some other things, but I think that’s a good start for now.
A Weekly Theme For Breast Cancer Baubles
So now that I’ve come up with my list of things to make, I wanted to organize the challenge in a way that I use my time efficiently.
I therefore decided that each week I would focus on making a specific type of handmade item.
Week 1: Bracelets – nylon cord and cause ribbon beads
Week 2: Bracelets – clay bead color block bracelets
Week 3: Small key chains – silicone beads, fuzzy beads, and polymer clay beads. I may make some wristlet key chains too with some breast cancer awareness focal beads I have in my stash.
Week 4: Earrings and extras- hoop earrings with clay beads and anything else that comes to mind

I will be posting everything I make to Instagram so please let me know which items are your favorites as I craft my way through October.
If you are able to join me in making items to donate to breast cancer organizations, please tag your posts with #baublesforbreastcancer and #createtodonate so that I can support and repost your efforts so together we can continue to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Materials I’ll Use To Make Baubles

Honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month With Handmade Donations
Handmade donations are a fun and creative way to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month.
And if DIY jewelry isn’t your thing, you can always make and donate :
- chemo port pillows
- crochet or knit chemo caps
- reversible fleece beanies
- pocket hugs with a notes of encouragement

Regardless of what you choose to make, every donation to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition or breast cancer organizations like it makes a difference.
So I hope you’ll break out your supplies and join me!
